Don't Cry Over Spilled Milk!

So Tif and I are bringing in groceries last night. Not a hard task, right? Until it comes to handing over the milk. I decided to grab the gallons by holding them in my arms instead of by the handles. Not usually a problem. But then, try to lift it from chest height to the top shelf of the fridge. Since my chest is not that high, it was immediately a problem! I'm a mom though, right, and woman, hear me roar! So it's all under control, until...........(dramatic pause)............the gallon of CHOCOLATE milk slipped out of my arm and down to the floor, hitting the bottom of the fridge first, then CRASHING to the floor, spraying milk all over, including all over me! I just stood there in disbelief for about 10-15 seconds, then reality smacked me in the head and I realized, "Oh, someone needs to clean this up!" Guess who gets to clean up messes? ME! Randy was at work, Jake, who had been sick all day, was in the process of getting sick again downstairs, and Tif was helping bring groceries in still.

So as Tif got towels, I got the mop and started the cleanup effort, while slipping between the fridge and the sink. Almost like an ice skating rink, only chocolate. HMMMM, now there's an idea! I'd even start ice skating if the rink were chocolate! After 2 1/2 hours, the floor, cupboards, walls, the blind above the sink, the inside of my refrigerator, and my shoes and clothes were all clean. I hadn't planned on Spring cleaning my kitchen until about April, but, when the opportunity presents itself, take advantage of it, right?! I still need to clean UNDER the fridge, but had to wait for Randy to help pull it out for me today.

Needless to say, after helping Jake all day, babysitting my little Grand-Niece, shopping, and cleaning, I was exhausted and fell into bed and crashed. I don't remember even kissing Randy good-night! I think I did. Guess I need to make those more memorable!

Apron Strings

Remember when our mom's used to cook Sunday dinner wearing their aprons and the house smelled soooo good? I wear an apron occasionally, but my house doesn't smell nearly as good...I don't get it. The point is, when do I cut them? With my son on his mission in Canada, I have learned just how fast time goes. He sent his weekly email today. I always try to be online when he is on so I can maybe email back and forth with him, at least for a little bit. It makes me feel happy. Today was no exception. We emailed back and forth three times before my last email I sent him didn't get a response. It was sad in a way. It's like you are close enough to touch, but not. Don't get me wrong. I am so proud of him and would never want him to be anywhere else at this time of his life. It's hard when they are on a mission because you can't just pick up the phone any time and talk or text. He comes home in 6 months and I find that apron string is still attached! I had better find some sharper scissors!

Ok here's a P.S. Sam just emailed back. My day is now complete! I am happy. :)

More Ah So!

I finally cleaned out my purse and I found the fortunes from our most recent fortune cookies! I keep them until I clean out my purse. Then I throw them away. Why I don't just leave them at the restaurant I will never know. I think it's because it will be bad luck or something if I don't take it with me! Never-the-less, these fortunes are SURE to come true!

Mine says - You will obtain your goal if you maintain your course. - Now, if you look at it, of course it will come true! Any goal comes true if you stay on the course towards that goal! But this one, as I look at it again, has become more of a reminder for me. With what has been going on lately, it is a good reminder that I am ok with what I am doing and I need to remain on this course because if I alter the course, I won't reach my goal. I have felt like I need to change to match my surroundings and appease people. But after re-reading this fortune, I will not be doing that.

My husband's fortune says - Something on four wheels will soon be a fun investment for you! -He's excited about this one! But he needs to remember to keep it under $20! Just kidding. I'm glad this one can come true at a future time!

These may be general items, but fortune cookies can really be kind of a fun guide to what is happening in your life at the moment. And that is exactly what they are meant for. I'm glad I cleaned out my purse!

To Be Or Not To Be...

That is a good question! I am currently Directing the play Aladdin, Jr. Being it is a Stake play, there is nothing already in possession, so everything has to be made from scratch. BIG job! So this all began last May I believe. It's a long time ago, and my brain malfunctions from time to time, kind of like Dory in Finding Nemo....what was I saying again? Oh ya. So I accepted the call to be the Director and all that comes with it. I understand "all that comes with it" because I have Directed things before. But this one has me ready for a vacation BEFORE the production is even ready!

Everything was going just fine until.....DRAMA!!!! OMG(osh)!!! Talk about people freaking out all of a sudden! As Director, I am allowed to change whatever I want, whenever I want, and a few people just don't like change, especially when it involves them! So I am on a couple of people's crap list. But know what? I really don't care beause THE SHOW MUST GO ON!!! Then there's more DRAMA because this one and that one used to be going out, but they aren't any more, but now he likes the sister of the other one, and it's he said she said, and..... OH BROTHER! I'm so glad I have my Psychiatrist degree!! It comes along with being a Director you know. Automatic Psychiatrist degrees! Luckily with a play, there's lots of props. So there's usually a couch or something that can be used! Now if I could only get the pay they get. Hmmmm......

But overall, it's a great experience and I will do it again in a heartbeat! To Be Or Not To Be? I say TO BE!

I have come to the conclusion that I hate the phone! I have not liked the phone for many years now, but as time goes on, I really don't like it! It only brings bad news, and even with cordless, it's still an appendage attached to your ear. It all began when I worked as a receptionist many years ago and got blamed for swearing at customers on the phone. At that time I didn't even say the word crap! Now I know who was really doing that, but it didn't matter. I was blamed and fired for it. So, I believe since then I have hated the phone. It only causes problems.

Therefore, my solution has been to just turn the home phone off and monitor my cell. I only answer if I recognize the ringtone. It has worked so far, but I get some nasty messages! I had one guy leave a message saying I wasn't an adult because I wouldn't answer my phone and that I needed to grow up. I just laughed.

I can imagine what it was like back when the operator listened in on conversations. I'm sure she heard some doozies! And all those cords to worry about! I know I'm not the first to get the cord tangled on my phone. I used to stand on a chair and get dizzy watching the cord unwind! That was the highlight of my day!! Ok, maybe not, but that was also back when I didn't mind the phone. Now it's just a pain in the ear! I would hope it's not a pain in the butt.... Ok movin' on.

So make sure I have your phone number in my cell with an attached awesome ringtone or I might not answer! Just fyi.....

Resolutions

I am trying to finalize my New Years Resolutions, not that I have come up with any yet. I either have too many things I want to accomplish this year, or my life is in complete harmony with its surroundings. Ya right. Complete harmony..... I think you can guess which one I am. So with this in mind, now is the time to prioritize and resolve to accomplish at least one thing this year. I think I'll work on my penmanship. Seeing as I mostly type, I should be able to accomplish this.
